Meet the Photographer
Hey, my name is JULIA ALDEN
Alden is my middle name.
I’ve always been the "bring your camera" friend. Capturing the little moments so everyone has something to look back on.
I poured myself into becoming a therapist and pursuing my doctorate. Many years of studying, and keeping my eyes on the next goal. And while I did that, I had my first child. 10 months later, my mom died.
Becoming a mother and losing my own changed how I saw the everyday moments I’d always loved capturing. Watching my daughter grow, I wanted to remember every version of her. Missing my mom, I found myself returning to photographs and videos for the sound of her voice, her expressions, and the comfort of seeing her again.
Sometimes life forces you to slow down. In that slower season, I finally let myself hear what people had been saying about my photos for years. What felt natural to me was meaningful to them. I began to wonder what it would look like to give that part of myself more room.
That’s what brought me here.
"How wonderful to be who I am, made out of earth and water, my own thoughts, my own fingerprints — all that glorious, temporary stuff."
